The Audience Development Manager is responsible for building and delivering a cohesive strategy that shapes the fair’s guest experience, attracts potential art lovers and art buyers, and ultimately drives ticket revenue and visitorship. This role oversees guest outreach and relationship management, ticket sales operations, and managing the guest experience. It requires a balance of strategic planning, hands-on execution, and managing stakeholder expectations and relations.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Relations

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive guest relations strategy that strengthens relations with existing audiences and grows new audiences, in line with the fair’s goals and audience segments.

  • Identify, reach out to, and cultivate relationships with key organisations (cultural institutions, corporations, community networks, etc).

  • Build and strengthen brand awareness year-round through programming (such as events, info sessions, mixers, etc) with stakeholders.

  • Coordinate digital and physical invitation distribution, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, reporting, and tracking.

  • Oversee updates to the invitation portal and clarify user flow and user journey.

  • Lead customer service communications related to invitations and guest access (email, invitation portal).

  • Manage front desk operations during the fair, including briefing seasonal staff and ensuring a smooth on-site experience.

Cross-Promotion

  • Identify, negotiate, and manage cross-promotional opportunities with external partners, art-related facilities, and other stakeholders, and maintain ongoing communication pipelines.

  • Increase brand awareness and visibility through ideating and developing year-round programming with key stakeholders.

Ticket Sales

  • Implement the sales funnel, ensuring proper segmentation, tracking, and conversion measurement.

  • Manage relationships with ticketing agencies and external sales platforms, ensuring accurate listings, timely updates, and compliance with internal processes.

  • Work closely with the digital marketing manager to optimise campaigns and ensure alignment between ticketing goals and marketing execution.

  • Produce weekly and post-fair ticket sales reports with clear insights and actionable recommendations.

  • Monitor sales daily and coordinate adjustments to campaigns or messaging when needed.

Qualifications & Key Competencies

Qualifications

  • Fully bilingual in English and Japanese.

  • 5+ years of experience in guest relations, ticketing, events, or related roles.

  • Strong organisational and project-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple workflows.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with comfort interacting across cultural and business contexts.

  • Experience with CRM, ticketing platforms, or invitation management tools a plus.

  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret KPIs and adjust strategy accordingly.

  • Ability to work on-site during event periods.

Trial Period: 3 months

Office Hours: 9:00 – 17:00 (in-office 3 days/week, flex hours allowed)
Office Location: 5 minutes walk from Kamiyacho Station (Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line)
Holidays: Weekends, national holidays, end-of year
Paid Time Off: 10 days annually
